Training schedule

As a member, and as part of the members Facebook group, each training session is posted and discussed the night before, confirming times/locations etc.


Adult training

We have a regular training schedule in place which consists of the following:

Monday - 5:15am
Core/strength/stretching session (virtually connected).

Tuesday - 5:15am
Indoor bike workout (virtually connected).

Wednesday - 5am warmup, 5:30 mainset
Structured running session ~ 1.5hrs total (in person or virtually connected)
Usually located at Rocks Riverside Park and surrounds.

Thursday - 5am
Swim squad at Dunlop Pool

Friday - 5:15am
Group social run ~10km (in person or virtually connected)
In person start point: Chase the rider cafe in Jindalee

Saturday - 5am/5:30am/6am
Brick workouts that finish at 8am, varied start times depending on your event distance focus (all in-person)
Meeting point: Jindalee Pool

Sunday - 8am
Swim squad at Dunlop Pool

Junior training
(Sept - May only)

Junior training is currently only held on a Saturday morning alongside the seniors brick session.

Saturday - 6am
Brick workout session, swim/ride/run and associated skills.
Meeting point: Jindalee Pool (alongside the adults).


Coach profile

Shannon Ahern

Shannon has been involved in coaching and competing in Triathlon since 2000.  With the background of accredited Level 1 Triathlon coaching, degree in Human Movement Studies and post graduate qualifications in Exercise Physiology, Shannon is able to develop specific nutritional and performance programs for all athletes of Westside Triathlon Club. 

Shannon is one of Westside Triathlon Clubs founders and has been actively coaching the club since 2009.  His coaching philosophy is to create an environment that encourages everyone to achieve their full potential, and have a blast a long the way.
